It was dark this morning when I joined about 150 other iPhone upgrades for the new arrival. We exchanged new finds on the apps store, I learned more about how the 3G push email really works and how soldiers in Iraq depend on their iPods for music and lighting in the field, and I also ran into a Newton in mint condition.
Once in the store it was very different than last time as I had to have to activate the phones before leaving. The first iPhone took 5 minutes, an the second and third one took a little longer.
After getting the iPhone’s I spent the day on the bench working with prototypes and testers with our current slider case to find out what the new iPhone 3G will need to make the perfect case. Thanks to ifixit.com who flew to New Zealand to be the first to break it down. Most early rumors and shots have been accurate and the rumor mill has gotten lucky on a few predictions (but not all). I’m sort of glad we waited for the real iPhone 3G to be released now... and from what I hear, I few other case company (no names mentioned) wish they had too as the new iPhone sensors are in different places and I think some of the larger case companies have made rather large bo-bo’s. We could have gambled on producing our case before the launch but I feel a lot of customers wouldn’t be to happy now ;o)
We will work hard to bring you the best case possible for your iPhone 3G and wont leave you exposed any longer than we have to. For some time now we have be playing around with the idea of including a protective screen film in addition to our great iPhone/iPod touch cases. They aren’t cheap for the good ones and as a caring green sort of company we’d hate to add more to the landfill.. What do you think? Please let us know by emailing feedback@corecases.com
